A little history

A renowned race par excellence, each year over the last 30 years, the Enduro du Touquet has brought together more than 1,500 drivers, men and women, professionals, anonymous people and enthusiasts of 2 and 4 wheel mechanical sports.

  • In 1975, Thierry Sabine, then a press agent at Le Touquet, decided to adapt for France the mass enduro races that existed in the USA. 286 contestants took part at the first meet
  • In 1981: KTM decided to get involved by bringing the best sand specialists, such as the Dutchman, Kees Van des Ven. In 1981: KTM decided to get involved by bringing the best sand specialists, such as the Dutchman, Kees Van des Ven
  • From 1982 to 1986: Kees Van des Ven won five times in succession
  • In 1989: A record year with 1,100 motorcyclists registered
  • In 1991 The Enduro was cancelled due to the Gulf War
  • In 1992: Yann Guédard won with a 250cm3 for the first time
  • In 1997, the motorcycle race that was traditionally organised on Sunday witnessed a new contest with quads on the Saturday, counting 240 machines each year
  • In 2000: The official return of Honda France, who won with Thierry Béthys in this year and the next
  • In 2005: 1,000 motorcycle riders and 238 quads registered. The holeshot was won by Cyril Déprez who gave his prize to the children of Fabrizio Meoni, killed during the Dakar 2005 race

Modifications to the itinerary, the abolition of a round and evolution in the organisation have enabled the race to continue while respecting the environment.


Description

Motorcycle race

New in 2010

  • The race will take place on the beaches at Le Touquet, Stella and Merlimont; it will no longer go through the dunes
  • The circuit is 17.8km
  • "Whoops" and additional chicanes will be set out to increase the difficulty and create a greater show!
  • A tuning area will be created on the sea front at Stella Plage with parking for contestants close by. Each motorcycle will have a 3x3m space in the tuning area where the only access will be given to 2 mechanics with their material
  • The final classification will be drawn up according to the number of completed rounds after three hours of racing, and according to the order across the line of arrival in the final round

Quad race

The circuit is 14km, identical to the 2010 edition.

The parking area for contestants is located in the car park at the Centre of the sea wall in Le Touquet. During the trial session and the race, it will also serve as a tuning area where each quad will have a 3x3m space and where the only access will given to 2 mechanics with their material and a jerry can.
